Notes From Our Journey
From twenty-six years of building custom homes on Lake Texoma, here we share about our process and what we've learned about design, materials, engineering, and the decisions that shape a home built to last for generations — the questions clients ask us most often, and the answers we give around the table in our design center.
Inside the 3D Models of Ceci Bates Custom Homes

In today’s home construction landscape, it seems that most custom home builders now tout their use of 3D design. Yet, in reality, this term can vary widely in meaning. What truly matters is not the claim itself, but what resides within the digital walls of these models.
At Ceci Bates Custom Homes, each project is translated into a comprehensive three-dimensional model of the home that will be crafted. This model is not a generic rendering but a detailed digital replica featuring the actual materials chosen by the client. The stone adorning the exterior is precisely the stone selected in collaboration with Heather Shields, our interior designer. The wood flooring portrayed is the exact species and stain to be installed, while the cabinetry showcases the finish that will come to life in the client’s space. From the tile selections to the countertops, the slabs viewed in the showroom are meticulously mapped onto surfaces within the model.
Paint colors, exterior claddings, railing materials, ceiling beams, fixtures, and hardware—all are depicted as they will appear once the home is completed. This approach marks a distinct departure from a simple visual approximation to a virtual walk-through where clients do not have to envisage what their finished home will feel like—they can see it.
This capability allows for significant flexibility. Clients can test their decisions, reassess material choices, and observe their impact, all prior to installation. Adjustments become an effortless part of the design process as changes are implemented swiftly and reflected instantaneously.
The essence of seeing a home before it rises from the ground lies in the fidelity of the model to the finished product. In this respect, what Ceci Bates offers is not just visualization, but assuredness.
