Notes From Our Journey
From twenty-six years of building custom homes on Lake Texoma, here we share about our process and what we've learned about design, materials, engineering, and the decisions that shape a home built to last for generations — the questions clients ask us most often, and the answers we give around the table in our design center.
Beyond Standard: Meeting Unique Security and Self-Sufficiency Needs

Ceci Bates

Custom home building is sometimes tested by requirements that extend beyond the typical scope of construction. For many builders, unusual client demands may be met with explanations of why they’re not feasible. At Ceci Bates Custom Homes, the test is whether our team can engineer and build precisely what the client envisions.
One notable project took place on a sprawling 7,000-acre property, where a complex vision became a reality. Our client approached us with stringent security and self-sufficiency needs that few homes—and fewer builders—are equipped to meet. The client’s desire for autonomy drove the requirement for a home capable of functioning entirely off-grid. This encompassed independent power generation, eliminating reliance on external utilities. Our team included robust solar solutions and on-site energy storage to fulfill this need.
The water system was another critical focus. A considerable 25,000-gallon insulated water storage facility, housed separately and fed by a property-based well with reverse osmosis filtration, ensures that the home can sustain itself with potable water indefinitely. Such infrastructure guarantees both quality and quantity, independent of external supply contingencies.
Security also featured predominately. The client requested a safe room integrated directly into the home’s structure, offering not only security but also peace of mind. Additionally, bulletproof glass was installed in the bedroom, ensuring that the windows of this personal sanctuary remain uncompromised under any circumstance.
These specific requests, far from conventional, were met with meticulous attention to detail and integrated seamlessly into both the engineering and aesthetic aspects of the home. Our client now resides in a home that fulfills every distinctive requirement.
The term “custom” should always indicate the capability to deliver on a client’s unique vision. This project underscores our commitment to that standard. We invite you to explore how Ceci Bates approaches each unique challenge at cecibates.com, where we detail our process and capabilities.
